Bike Workout Cadence

When doing a bike workout I like to see cadence, so I programme a target cadence range, even if I'm not concerned to maintain any particular cadence for the current workout. I just programme the range from 0-200 and then I can see cadence without getting any out-of-range alerts. At least, that's the way it should work but, for some reason, I can't enter '0' for the minimum. The lowest figure the field will accept is '1'. 0 RPM is a valid, and even useful, cadence and it's annoying when the Edge throws up an out of range warning – obscuring other fields I'm looking at – every time I coast, which I might do at the start of a recovery segment.

Is there some technical reason that the Edge can't allow 0 RPM?

Thanks in advance,

It may be something to do with average cadence settings that can either include or exclude zero values.

Thanks for the reply. I understand the principle of excluding zeros (or not) when calculating average cadence, but I don't see why that precludes using zero as a target.

I wonder if whoever designed this just didn't think it through. A cadence of zero is meaningless when running, but it's fine on a bike.

    Thanks again,
