New Features

Is Garmin planing to improve the site? There are couple features that can enhance the site. It will be nice if some of them can be incorporated. Sorry I don't know if there is a post where this is reviewed but I have not seeing any new features or improvements on the application in a long time.

1) Use space on the screen more effectively. For example on a run when you scroll to the bottom you have 3 columns Heart Rate, Elevation, and Running Dynamics. The you need to scroll down more to see the fourth column Timing. Timing will be nice to have it with the first 3 columns to avoid unnecessary scrolling and have all the information side by side

2) Training Zones - The information provided under the Heart Rate column for training zones is poor. It will be nice to see how much time spend on each training zone. Have the ability to name the training zones. Have the ability to show the training zones on the heart rate graph

3) Crop Exercises - This happens to everybody that we forgot to stop or start the clock on time, so it will be nice to have the capability to remove couple measurements at the beginning or end of the exercise within Garmin connect and not have to depend on other sites or tools and then go through the process of exporting and importing to have it done. Or on a multi sport exercise, you want to remove one of them.

4) Ability to scale the graphs. There are many time where the graphs look very flat when in reality is not, having the ability to adjust the scale will help a lot

5) Reports - Have the ability to create reports based on a custom period of time. For example I want to see a particular report for up to today this year and I can't as I'm limited to pre-set periods. Have the ability to create custom reports at the end all the information is there but can't get it.

6) Export - Ability to export the detail data for an exercise to a CSV file instead to a FIT file that only some applications can open it for further process

7) Device Settings - Some important information which is already set on the profile settings or personal information like age age, max heart rate, gender, etc. is asked again under Device Settings so there is duplicate information and could be out of sync.
  • 2) That's in the Stats tab (under graphs), there is also a Time In Zones tab there (along with Splits and Segments tabs).

    6) In activity there is a Splits csv export (from gear/tool icon top-right). In Reports there is export to csv (below listing) that export the data you can view there.

For #2, Under the Stats tab and Heart Rate section, there is a BPM, % of Max, and Zones section. The BPM has value information, the % of Max gives you two values, then under Zones, it just shows you the Avg and Max heart rate in which zone they fall, there is no additional info. There is no Zones tab, this is what I'm requesting to improve.

For #6, In activity there is a Export to CSV option which exports just the summary of the activities on the page, not the whole information for a particular exercise as I was requesting. Under reports the export function (actually at the top right of the page) gives you just a summary for the report that your are viewing. Does not give you detail information for the exercise.

Maybe the screens are different for different users/products but on my scree the information above is what I have
  • What devices support Time in Zone feature?

For csv data there is most likely differences between various products, mine gives detailed split data with summary for activity, and the Reports export is more of a summary for the listed activities exactly the same as shown on screen.

Yes I can export the splits too, under each exercise, but I was looking to export the WHOLE data like it is possible to export to a FIT file.

Also the training zones are not available on my device itself but Garmin Connect should be able to graph and show it as it has all the data collected from the device

This are the features that I think will be great if Garmin improves its application

    Re 5
Custom dates are available for "progress summary" in the Reports section
  • You many want to contact Garmin with ideas you have. They really don't monitor this forum.

  • 6) when I said Reports I actually meant Activities, I mixed the terms up. I see Reports also have csv export, but the all activity summary data is in Activities list and that can be exported to csv as well.

    Thx Jim,

This is what I was looking for. I thought Garmin monitored the Forum. I will submit the suggestions to the link you provided.
