Forerunner 910 not finding satellites

My garmin seems to take ages to connect to enough satellites to be able to track my route and give me a running pace. Is this a comment problem or is there something I can do to get it working more quickly. Last night I'd covered over 3 miles before it started tracking and I'm not the fastest of runners so we are talking about 25 minutes. I try to keep it well charged. Any suggestions?

You need to let it get the satellites before you start moving.

What was the sky visibility like in the area where you were? Have you checked for updates in Garmin Express?

How do you know when its locked on to the sats? I had this issue on my bike ride on Wednesday. I got 1+ mile down the track, before it finally picked something up. Compare to my friend who was using Strava, and it showed the correct route. Very annoying! Just wondering if there is a way to know once its found them??
