Resting calories too high

I have the vivoactive HR and it had my resting calories at 1847, on June 16 it jumped to 2253 and has stayed at that level. I'm 6' 185lbs so 1847 should be more realistic. How can I get it back down to the lower number? Why would it randomly change?
  • The experts at Garmin are not too good at calculating calories. I just gave up on expecting accurate estimates of resting or active calories. For example, yesterday I had 1666 "BMR" calories, 1317 calories from a 12 mile run, and a whopping 1425 calories for daily steps (about 4 miles).

Apparently, the experts at Garmin belive that walking 4 miles throughout the day burns more calories than a 12 mile ran mostly at 85% MHR.

Does the activity class have any effect on it?
