Forget to stop watch, get in car, now want to trim off the last two minutes of run

I've done this a few times. I doubt I'm unique. I run 5k, get in the car, forgetting to stop the watch then end up with a load of personal bests due to tracking a drive at 40kmh. :-)

I'd love to be able to go back to the gps trace on garmin connect and just click 'stop here' on the trace and chop off the bit where I'm in the car. Anybody know how I could do this? I'm OK if I need to put the gpx file into some other software, but I'm looking for tips on which program to use.

Thanks in advance,

Rich
  • This website has several tools you can use on the FIT file. I did this recently when I finished a 5K, then just walked around for 3 minutes before realizing I forgot to stop my watch. I downloaded the FIT file from Connect, uploaded to this site, chopped off the tail end, then deleted the run from Connect and uploaded the resulting FIT file I got from this website. Worked well.
