Why are "Daily Steps" calories all over the place lately???

The last week or two I've noticed that the "daily steps" calories are all over the place on Connect.

I usually get about 120-200 calories accrued from "daily steps" doing my normal routine OUTSIDE of exercise.

I've had a few days lately doing the same routine where its only registering a fraction of the calories I usually get.

Anyone else notice this?

Garmin is there any update on this issue? Any days I do significant recorded exercise I end up with 0ndaily step calories. I would normally get 120 to 200 calories from daily steps outside recorded exercise.

Support Ticket Finally Issued and sent to engineers

I posted about this same issue on 6/18/2016. I do have an escalated ticket open and sent to the software engineers. Per customer support this can take up to 3 weeks to be revewed.

I am not doing cart wheels over this or the length of time it will take to get new software update, but is now a known issue (at least my case has been confirmed). Many others replied to my thread reporting the same issues.

Last couple of days seem to be back to normal for daily step calories.

I mentioned the problems I was having in an Amazon review for the vivoactive hr. Garmin replied that the latest software update fixed the issue with calories. Has anyone on this thread seen an improvement?

The truth of this will likely depend entirely on what device you have. What's yours?

I had the vivoactive hr. I've also tried borrowing both the vivosmart hr and fenix 3 from the "try before you buy" website Lumoid. For both device that had the wrist heart rate monitor, the calories for "daily steps" were way off....extremely high.

I returned the vivoactive hr because of this issue, when I could get no help from Garmin's email support, not even an acknowledgement that there was any issue at all. I really liked the device though, am asking if the problem has been resolved because I would consider getting it again.

I don't trust Garmin to know the right answer in their reply to your amaon review.

Bzut, for forum posters to fill yo uin, you'll need to say what your partocular issue was- you never specified the specific problem you noticed.

The issue still isn't resolved. Eg. I did a 362 calorie walk today and both connect and the fenix3 only say I have 320 active calories so far something is messed up with daily steps when you start recording activities....

I should be seeing 362 + whatever daily step cals I accrued outside of this exercise. I know it's not 0!

Calorie Count with or without Heart Rate Monitor

Greetings. I use a Forerunner for rowing. When I use the HRM, the reported calorie burn on an average outing is about 500. If I do the same outing without the HRM the reported calorie burn is over 1000! I reported this to Garmin, but the fix they suggested has not worked. Any suggestions.

The problem still exists. Whenever I record an exercise it seeks to reduce the daily step calories I accrued before that exercise. Please fix.
