"Importing" routes into Garmin Connect

From what I can tell, you can't do this? Am I right?

I'm plotting a route which I can plot out on Strava and Endomondo, but I can't plot it in Garmin Connect (map doesn't have the path data :( ).

Does anyone know of a tool which can take a GPX file and turn it into an activity file which I can then import and convert to a route? This would get around it?
  • Yes, this is super annoying. I find the Garmin course creator actually quite good, but you can only import your own activities, not upload courses. So you have to upload a file as an activity, giving you an activity you never did, convert it to a course, and delete the activity. How stupid is that.

I'd love to be able to import courses directly, and then have them sync to my Fenix 3, instead of either having to use the stupid method above, or Basecamp (which does not put the courses on Garmin Connect, only on the device), or copy them directly the device, and not even having the course online or in Basecamp. And for the Basecamp or the direct solution I need a pc and a USB connection, whereas course from Connect can also be synced via my phone, which is much more practical.

Really, what is Garmin thinking, making this whole process so cumbersome. Are they even thinking?
