Resting Heart Rate - significant discrepancies between VAHR watch and Garmin Connect

I am seeing a significant difference between the Resting Heart Rate (RHR) shown by my Vivoactive HR (VAHR) watch and what the Garmin Connect portal is showing.

See attached snapshots of my VAHR watch and my GC chart.
- VAHR watch shows RHR fluctuating between about 57 and 69 (last night after a hard workout on the bike), for an average of 61
- GC shows RHR in the range of about 43 to 59, with an average of 49.

I tend to trust the watch more, knowing myself. I think my RHR is around 55 now, but it's been higher due to insufficient sleep lately, which is why 61 would be more believable, even including the 69 outlier.

Even simplifying the analysis, my VAHR watch shows 4 RHR values over 60 in the last 7 days, while GC shows none (all GC values are significantly below 60)!

The biggest problem I have is that VAHR feeds GC, as the VAHR data is uploaded/sync'd to GC several times a day. So how can the two sets of data be so different? The two tools (VAHR and GC) must be using different algorithms, but does this mean I can't trust the GC chart??? This is the reason I posted this entry in the GC forum.

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I looking at it the wrong way?

Btw, I get to the GC RHR chart by going to the "Health and Fitness" tab -> Heart Rate chart -> click on "Resting Heart Rate Trends Over Time" at the bottom.

Thanks!
