Speed for Pool Swimming on 920XT has changed!

Since about 2 weeks ago my speed and pace shown in Connect has changed for pool swims.

My units are set to UK statutory but pool swims first on my Garmin Swim and more recently on my 920XT have always shown distance in Metres and speed/pace in mins per 100M. This has suddenly changed - for a couple of weeks now the swims show total distance in Metres (as always) but pace is now mins per 100 yds and in the summary mins per mile.

This is very annoying - has anyone else experienced this - not sure whether it is a change to connect or a change to the 920 firmware?
  • After a bit more investigation this is a quirk of the edit function.

If you go into the activity and edit anything (typically I change name and event type) then the speed/pace change to Minutes per mile and minutes per 100yds

Given the need to occasionally change the lap count (which is already a pain) this is just another annoyance. Not sure whether these changes by Garmin are intentional or errors - if they are errors then it points to poor regression testing - if intentional then it would be nice if release notes detailed the changes at least.
  • I have now got time per 100M back on my edited activity where I had to remove an additional length. Problem is I'm not sure of the exact sequence I had to go through to get there :(

    Now I have it

    Go into activity

    Edit

    Set to open water swimming

    Edit distance to 1200M

    Save

At this point it shows distance in yards speed in minutes per mile and minutes per 100yds

    Edit

    Set to lap swim

Now can edit distance and pool length

    Set distance (again) to 1200M

    Set pool length to 25M

    Lengths then correctly calculated

Now shows correct value for minutes per 100M (but shows as minutes per 100yds)

    Save

Now activity shows 1200M lap swimming correct minutes per 100M - simples - phew!

If anyone knows a simpler way to do this please let me know - or perhaps Garmin might just put back the functionality that we previously enjoyed!!
  • Thank you for that. I had my first issue with my 920 today where for some reason it didn't record any distance for a one length interval - probably my fault as I was doing a drill at the time and don't think I did enough arm pulls to record the stroke.

What a complicated method to adjust the distance though, surely Garmin can implement an easier way to do it.
  • Used to be simpler - they have only made it difficult to edit a few weeks ago :(
