Garmin connect with hr display vivosmart

Does the Garmin Connect not have the capabilities to show the heart rate display? I see the heart rate on my vivosmart that I just connected with my new HRM but would like to see displays.
  • I'm not entirely sure what you meant, but:

Neither the Garmin Connect service ‘in the cloud’, which may be accessed with the Garmin Connect online user interface in your browser, nor Garmin Connect Mobile apps running on (Windows 10 Mobile, iOS and Android) mobile devices, will stream data from a connected vivosmart. In other words, they will not display your current heart rate or take a real-time data feed directly or indirectly from the HRM.

All heart rate information the Garmin Connect will present is historical, and only updated every time the vivosmart is synced (with Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express) and all data in scope is uploaded to the Garmin Connect database ‘in the cloud’.
  • With a vivosmart, you can see HR graphs and stats recorded during an activity. The vivosmart HR will give you 24/7 HR stats and graphs.

Depending on your phone and whether it supports ANT+, you might be able to pair your HRM to an app on the phone that does what you want. Some HRMs also support BLE which would open up other app possibilities.

I can see historical HR data on the web interface, but not the app (android). Is this by design? The app is obviously gathering the info on sync (and then uploading to the 'cloud'), why can it not be displayed in the app as it is in the web-based app?
  • Please disregard my question, above. I found the HR data on the mobile app. Switching the bottom panel of the main page from 'summary' to 'timeline' reveals a panel that can be long pressed to get more detailed info.
