Active Calories dashboard is missing out data for walking

From 22nd April there seems to be an issue with the garmin connect android app. Since this date the active calories dashboard does not display the calories burned by walking based on steps. A few days back I notices that my app "walk" is also not displaying in the dashboard active calories. I use this app "walk" when walking outdoor. For notice the activity is being captured on my Fenix3 HR. Please fix this issue in de Garmin connect app, as my data is getting scrutinized and is not accurately displaying my calories burned on weekly basis and daily average.

Did u recently update the watch firmware? I noticed this on my fenix3 after updating to 6.95b and also in 7.0. Send in a report to the support and/or beta team if this started after an update.

Active Calories dashboard is missing out data for walking

Hi There, I have a Vivoactive, and have been having the same problem as ShantiGP. It seems that the problem is with the Active Calories only as my walking and steps appear on other reports. My Total Activity and Distance reports all show my distance covered walking, but my Active Calories walking have disappeared since April. As you can see from my Active Calories screen shot, the week of 10th April shows my walking calories, but my monthly Active Calories for April does not.

If I go to compare my Activities and with the Activity Type set to Walking, all my walking activities appear, but if I enter Walking as a keyword in the search filter there are no walking activities after April 22nd.

I have Garmin Connect installed on my computer, which automatically syncs and updates my Vivoactive, so I have no idea when I may have updated it last, as I automatically ok all the prompts for the updates.

Garmin Express version on my computer is 4.1.19.0
Software version of watch (I think) is 3.50

The issue still occurring for me. What's odd is if I upload the activity for brief period of time the activity will show under active calories but then it disappears.

Tried deleting the waking app on watch and Re-added and no change in behaviour.
  • Same here with the Vìvofit 2. Calories registered with activities (Start to Stop) normally trickle through to reports. The rest of the daily steps don't. Then I have activities that register as distance, but not as calories, and vice versa.

Looks all very Garmin to me. Don't trust Garmin with your data. Like any of the "Big Data" companies they are mainly concerned with the "big picture" they can sell, but not really with your individual data trail.

Same here as well. I have Vivofit 2 and calories from walking are missing from the charts. Total time walking on a weekly/monthly basis is also missing. Previously this year there were a similar issue with cycling parametres which is now fixed, but that took at least 4-5 months!
  • I just started a thread on this, but hadn't seen this thread. I see a very specific problem - no active calories for steps on days where any activity has been recorded. In fact, the active calories for steps will show on a given day right up until the point where you record an activity, at which point they are wiped out and only the active calories for your activity show. This affects GC mobile and web. See mobile screenshot attached. I've written support and await the instruction to "update to latest app and firmware and conduct a master reset"

Has anyone received a response from Garmin to why walking activities are missing from active calorie reports? Or any eta of resolution?

I received a response from Garmin advising me I was using an unsupported browser in Chrome... Problem is I use at least 4 different browsers on 3 different devices and the problem is still the same. I advised them of that today so am waiting to see what they say... Below is the info..

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
    I am happy to help.

I would recommend using an alternate browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. Unfortunately, Google Chrome is not compatible with Garmin Connect.
If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know. Alternatively you can search for a solution here: http://www.garmin.co.uk/support

    And my response.....
Sorry but that is not the issue. Have you read the link I sent to you on the forum? I have checked my account on 3 different devices (desktop, laptop and tablet), I have also checked my account on numerous browsers (Opera, Chrome, IE 11 and Edge). The problem is the same, and suggests the issue is with either the way information is being gathered by my watch, or on your site.

Please check the link on the forum as it indicates this is not a user issue, but something that may have been changed by Garmin, or an update around the middle of April.

Prior to that the information was appearing fine on all my devices.

Below is a screen shot of my current active calories on my browser (Opera). I have walking Active Calories every day this month. Why are my walking calories from Wednesday the only ones showing for the week when I have walking calories for every day? I suspect the information for Wednesday will be gone when I check it tomorrow.

    Regards

for goodness sake, how on earth can it be a Chrome issue when the problem manifests itself in GC Mobile after a wireless sync (i.e. without going anywhere near a Chrome browser!!).

I also had a response from Garmin, requesting a screenshot, which I have duly sent, even though it was attached to my original message...

Last couple days look good now. Appears to be fixed for me thanks Garmin. Anyone else back to it reporting ok?
