"First Use" date on gear is incorrect

After connection to Garmin Connect I added one bike and soon thereafter 3 more.
The second bike I accidentally made an error with the date.
While assigning gear to the older rides I learned that the Max Distance is updated from the rides SINCE starting to use the Edge Device.

How can I update the field "First Use" to the correct date?
  • You cannot do that, full stop.

Let's say the gear item in question is called Bike Two. What you can do is create a new gear item Bike Deux with the same details but the correct First Use date, then bring up all the activities linked to Bike Two, open them one by one and manually edit the associated gear (removing Bike Two and adding Bike Deux), then remove Bike Two from the list of gear, and finally rename Bike Deux to Bike Two.

Thanks for the reply...I was afraid that might be the answer!!!

  • First use date bug

There's actually a bug in the code here. Garmin Connect will not allow you to assign gear on the day of first use you therefore have to set the first use date to the day before. Somewhat annoying if you have to manually edit all activities.

I just went on to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/gear and added another bike with a slightly different name. I was prepared to manually go into each activity and change the gear to the "new" bike. I entered the correct date of first use, and it asked me if I wanted to assign all cycling events after that date to this gear. Perfect! And easy.

...unless you have more than one bike that you periodically ride...
