Connect not loading propperly.

Hello,

Recently I have run into an issue where the connect dashboard doesn't load any content. This hobbled page has the top most menu items like "home", "help", "sign in", and "products" links. I do also have visibility of the end of page boiler plate stuff that every website does. But nothing remotely linked to my account will load. I thought it may be an issue with my Chrome browser so I tried Firefox and IE. All of them failed the same way. Then I tried from a different computer in a different zip code. It worked at first but after navigating around a bit it also went blank on me. I know data is there because I can still access some things from the limited IOS app on my tablet. I tried reverting to classic view so I could at least look at my data but it appears that the old website has been taken down.

I do have a help ticket in with Garmin but I have never seen a response to one of those before.

Has anyone else had this issue over the past 3-4 days?

Thanks

  • What you're seeing is typical of an ad blocker, AV or something like that blocking the download. Ghostery is one program that keeps cropping up but there are others.
  • Hello,

The machine originally having problems with this has not been modified or updated in over a year yet this is the first time I have had this issue. Auto updates are turned off the browsers have not been upgraded and and there is no AV software installed. Just saying that makes me think I should try updating some plugins...

Java, Flash and Silverlight are now updated and the dashboard loaded properly.

    Thanks
  • Ok. so a couple updates.

    (1) On PC 2 running Win7, firefox browser and Bitdefender AV. I went through the process of updating extensions like flash, Java and silverlight. That seemed to resolve the issue there.

    (2) On PC 1 running Win7, Chrome browser and no AV. I went through similar steps with no success. Then I tried on IE no success. So I finally installed the latest version of Firefox again with no success.

    (3) Out of frustration I have tried loading connect directly from the browser on my IOS tablet rather than using the app. Same issue there.

I don't know what to say about it working again on PC2 but not PC1. The fact that this has suddenly happened across three different platforms tells me that this is something that changed on Garmin's side to initiate this sequence.

    How do I fix it?
    Thanks

  • Further review.

So I just eliminated the chance of this being my system's fault. I created a new connect account for my wife so that I could add her as a user on the new indexScale. And as soon as I was done entering initial data for her, the dashboard popped right up. The cells were all blank but at least they were visible.

    This was on PC1.

  • What you describe happens to me when Connect has been open in the background for a long time. The first time I refresh, I see what you describe. A second refresh fixes it for me until the next time it's been sitting idle for awhile. Your situation sounds worse. Assuming no popup blocker or ad aware-type of program is running, two things to try:

Delete cache and temporary internet files.
Log out of connect and then log back in.
  • It is really hit and miss on all of my machines. Log out and in is the only thing that works sometimes. Today it pulled up right away I viewed data from my morning run and then when I tried to back out to the dashboard it went sideways again. 4 retries to login did nothing to correct it. I have never yet had a screen refresh fix the problem. I will try clearing the cache now.
  • I just tried clearing the cache. That did not seem to make any difference. Also I just tried logging in as my wife and here account opened perfectly. I then signed out of hers and back into mine and no dashboard. This has to be an issue with my account.

    Garmin connect no longer working

I think this has happened since the last Garmin Connect update

I have a vivoactive , I can login but the screen is just blank
  • Try the steps above and see if they help you.
  • Recently I tried changing my username. That worked for me a few times but not every time. This week I have been logging in using my email address rather than my username and I have not had any issues yet. I don't think that was the solution but rather incidental timing to Garmin having fixed something. All the same if you end up with the same issue try this.
