Etrex30X - Trying to Select Birdseye Topo Map

I purchased the Birdseye topo software and downloaded it on my Etrex30X. If I hit "setup" on my device, go to "maps" and select the Birdseye topo map, the screen says the Birdseye topo map is enabled. But then when I go back and press "map" (to see where I am), the global map (without any topo markers) appears on the screen. What am I doing wrong that prevents the device from utilizing the Birdseye topo map? In other words, why does it keep defaulting to the global map, as if I had not selected the topo map?
