I am having this problem now in April of 2020. It counts my steps just fine but if I try looking at the step detail, nothing is there for the last few weeks. I also noticed about 3 weeks ago that step…
garmin vivoactive is not showing previous day steps. daily it will count my steps and display on my watch on to my iphone app 'Garmin Connect', but when i log into the app the next day, there is no data under More > Activities > 7d. "No data available". When i log online to garmin connect, the same is true. all my historic data is empty.
The watch daily records this info, and daily syncs to the iPhone app.
Any suggestions?

Yes, still the same as in my previous post: Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing
We’re you able to fix this issue? I’m having the same problem and it’s driving me crazy!
Data you uploaded to the wrong account won't be necessarily reuploaded to the original one, after you fixed the mutiple account issue, though.
If you miss some Activities, you can upload them to Garmin Connect manually (download the files from the folder //GARMIN/Activity/ on the device, while being connected over USB to the device), and import them on the page Import Data of GCW. With Steps and HR it may not be possible, since the corresponding FIT files are being automatically deleted after a successfull synchronisation, which already happened (on the wrong account), in your case.
I’m sorry I just don’t understand. I don’t know how I have tow accounts or how to even find the second mysterious account even if I had one. I did everything the previous post said about logging out of everything and reattaching things. How do I find this other account that my last months worth of data is evidently going to. This is unbelievably frustrating bc nothing I’m doing is being saved. Which decide do I need to connect via usb to find that folder?

I have no idea how you mannaged to associate your watch with multiple accounts, but there are several possibilities - it can happen for example when you reinstall the GC Mobile App, when you change the phone, when you add a new Garmin device, etc.
I cannot tell you which was your case, or whether you had multiple accounts at all, but if the operation advised in the document I linked previously helped with getting new data to your original account, then it indeed looks like the device was associated with two (or more) accounts.

I also have no idea, but you should have somewhere the credentials for the account - either you noted them, or have received some confirmation email from Garmin. What is more surprising though, than having multiple accounts (a rather common mistake), is the fact that you have let it two months long in that state without caring about it, without contacting the Support, or searching a solution online (and the solution was posted here on the forum countless of times).
After two months it may be difficult to restore the missing data. Activity files may be still present on the device, so you can possibly still import them manually in the way I described, but the Step and HR data may be impossible to restore (at least not without some serious expert hacking).

Not sure what you mean, but I guess the "decide" is a typo and you mean a "device" instead. Since you did not tell what device(s), and how many of them you own, I cannot tell you, but if you own a Garmin watch, connect the watch, if it is an Edge computer, connect the Edge computer (and similarly for any other Garmin device). Use the cable that came with the device, connect it to the USB port of your computer, try syncing with Garmin Express, and if it does not help, access the device in a file manager (i.e. File Explore on Windows, or File Finder on a Mac), and copy all files from the folder //GARMIN/ACTIVITY/ to your local drive. Once done, you can import those files to Garmin Connect (on the page Import Data)
