Help - I logged my marathon as a hike! Records lost

Because I did this - it won't show my PRs - Full mara time is ok as I know that, but I wonder if I have records for 10k and half mara - it would be great to know.

Now I presume it's not bought them up because it was registered as a hike, not run. I've changed the activity type to run now, but as I understand garmin only scan for records when the activity is first saved, not after changing.

Is there anything I can do to get garmin to rescan this?

Connect doesn't scan data for "records" that are for distances less than the complete activity so that could explain your situation.

From the "Personal Records" section on Garmin Connect:

"Personal Records are created when you upload data that closely matches one of our predetermined distances, and it's the fastest time you've ever uploaded for that distance.

You don't have to exactly match a distance, but it must be close. (For example, a Half Marathon Personal Record may be created if your activity is 13.2 miles.)"

However, some Garmin devices will extract best performances for shorter distances within a longer activity
  • What if you export the activity, delete it, import it, and change it immediately?

That was we used to do for the 4 months when reports weren't reflecting edits at all.

Given the importance of the record, if you haven't done this before, perhaps do a test first to see if it works for you.

I keep a second Garmin Connect account just for this purpose.
  • Not sure if you know... but from the 'gear' icon on the upper right you can 'assign as PR' the activity if the distance is the distance PR. If its a 5k or 1km in the middle of a longer race for instance that doesn't quite workout....
