Hi, would like to use the Garmin connect Calendar to log my training events. I am using the latest programme, but cannot synch my rides into the calendar, is there an idiots guide anywhere or is it a known bug?
regards
Dave
  • They should appear automatically in the calendar if you have ticked out the activity type to the left in the calendar view
  • Same here?

I may have the same issue.

In Garmin Connect on website and on my phone I have run workouts planned for the whole week.
On my FR235, I go to Menu -> Training -> Training Calendar and I get the message "Download your training calendar from Garmin Connect"

I am expecting to see my daily workout here and for it to be selectable. Is this the same issue you are seeing? If not I will log in FR235 forum.

    Cheers

Did you select ‘Send Workouts to Device’ in Garmin Connect online and then sync with your watch?

Ah I see - thanks , I just tried that now and it wants me to open garmin express to transfer the workouts. So the sync from my iPhone isn't able to sync the calendar? If so I probably won't use this feature as I Update the calendar more often than I open garmin express.

I don't have an iPhone, but I know from firsthand experience that the Garmin Connect Mobile app for iOS on my iPad can be used to sync workouts to my FR235. (Never mind that Garmin Connect online would still say it needs to open Garmin Express, even when I'm using Safari on my iPad.)

Cheers, I have it syncing workouts but not the calendar itself. Did you mean you had the calendar syncing from iPad?
  • I have it syncing workouts but not the calendar itself.
I'm not sure what you meant by that.

In Garmin Connect online inside the Safari browser on my iPad:
    • On the Workouts page, when I tap on the (Send to Device) icon with the two opposite-pointing arrows that is on the row of a particular workout, it activates the Garmin Connect Mobile app and adds/syncs the workout to my FR235's Menu»Training»My_Workouts section.
    • On the Calendar page, when I tap on the right-pointing arrow button on the top right corner of the page, and then select ‘Send Workouts to Device’ in the drop-down menu, it activates the Garmin Connect Mobile app and syncs today's and/or future-dated workouts to my FR235's Menu»Training»Training_Calendar. (‘Publish Calendar’ does something quite different.)

If you mean Apple's Calendar app running on my iPad, that's a different thing again. When my FR235 remains connected to the Garmin Connect Mobile app running on my iPad, events in the Calendar app are synced to the watch, and today's events appear in the Calendar widget on the watch. However, that has nothing to do with the Training Calendar on the watch.

Thanks for being specific. I was referring to the FR235's Menu»Training»Training_Calendar.

After much trying I couldn't get anything into there. Until now.

On the website if I click 'Send workouts to device' then it tells me it wants to send 9 workouts, at which point it tries to launch Garmin Express, I cancel this because I don't want to sync via USB, that is laborious. I thought that this hadn't done anything as I didn't let it open Garmin Express.

But the workouts have just started appearing on my watch training calendar now!

On the mobile Garmin Connect mobile app I have always seen the workouts in my calendar. I was expecting to find a similar button on the mobile app to send to device but there isn't one there.

I am pretty sure I had clicked the 'Send workouts to device' button a few times before and nothing got synced to my watch but I am now willing to assume that I didn't do that: otherwise it working now makes no sense!

Summing up, you can click the 'Send workouts to device' button on the website, and abort it opening Garmin Express and this should still trigger the syncing via your mobile app.

    Thanks all!

Actually, you don't have to abort anything.

Hello, it appears that the calendar has had many issues over the last few weeks. One problem gets fixed but then another begins. Anyhoo, the latest problem I am having is when I post my fitbit mileage manually, it rounds the distance off to the whole mile, i.e. 2.15 becomes 2.00. What's up with that? Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Thanks.................mike
