It seems the Open Streetmap maps no longer are showing trails? Even fully zoomed to max. I remember you could see that before, or was I dreaming? Either way, it would be really nice to see the trails and not just major roads. I usually only run on the trails.
I use google maps, and with it, you can turn on and off trails, satellite view, etc, by clicking on the icon that looks like a stack of paper in the main widget.
If you zoom in on the openstreetmap standalone page you do see the trails. It looks exactly like your screenshot first, but zoom in a little more and they all show up. On Garmin Connect I zoom in to max and no trails.
The presentation of Open Streetmap on Garmin has definitely changed in the last 48 hours and is MUCH worse - and nothing like the actual Open Streetmap display on their web site. Garmin Connect now useless for off-road cycle course creation and pretty awful for road course planning.
