Elevation Correction Wont Stay on disabled - Help

Former Member

I have a edge touring + and this unit has the barometric altimeter, according to the garmin connect site "if your device has a barometric altimeter elevation corrections are disabled by default"

For some reason this isn't happening with mine and no matter how many times I switch it to disabled, it defaults back to enabled.

How can I fix this issue

Cheers

Dougie.
  • I have a same problem (FENIX3). This problem started before 3 weeks.

All new activity has elevation correction enabled as default. I send e-mail to support garmin befor 3 day but they didn't send answer.

    Same solution?
  • Do you upload activities through PC+cable or through mobile app android/ios+wireless?
I use PC+cable (android app is unusable for me), but I remember that the issue was present with both the methods. This evening I record another run, tomorrow I can test again uploading the new activity.

Maybe they fixed the issue only for Fenix 1 for now...
  • I uploaded via Bluetooth (android APP) or via WiFi. Elevation correction is enabled in both method.

I will try uploaded via PC+cable+garmin express during this weekend but I think that it isn't solution problem.
  • WiFi, USB and BLE all tried and always Elev Corrections enabled. It's definitely a bug at the Garmin Connect end incorrectly looking up the device ID in the .fit file and not recognising the ID as a Fenix 3 for the purposes of device last sync on your personal profile page and for the purposes of deciding whether to apply Elev Corrections or not. There's no other explanation for this behaviour starting when there's been no device software change, and then suddenly going away for some people when they've done nothing special to their watch (i.e. no hard reset or software update).
  • Yes, it must be BUG in garmin connect.

I uploadet screenshot from my yesterday run and you can see that elevation data up/down (prevýšenie/zníženie stúpania) are unknow "--" but in watch's history is number "0","1",etc.

Garmin connect must have problem reading .fit file. I hope, that garmin fix this problem early.

  • I can confirm that at least for Fenix 1 it is fixed: I just uploaded others two activities in fit format through cable+PC+GarminExpress and the elevation correction is disabled by default.
  • I didn't try uploadet via cable but problem is here still. And now, graph of elevation has correction of data, after I disabled elevation corection. :/
  • Still not fixed for me. Three activities over the weekend and all have Elev Correction on by default :(
  • On my old 910xt when the barometer broke the activities automatically set the Corrections Enabled option. Can you check that your barometer is working correctly?
  • How can I check my barometer? And how can it broken?

If I switched barometer widget, it is showed same data as accuweather data. fenix3=1021.4mb, accu = 1019mb.
