Elevation Correction Wont Stay on disabled - Help

Former Member
Former Member
I have a edge touring + and this unit has the barometric altimeter, according to the garmin connect site "if your device has a barometric altimeter elevation corrections are disabled by default"

For some reason this isn't happening with mine and no matter how many times I switch it to disabled, it defaults back to enabled.

How can I fix this issue

Cheers

Dougie.
  • I have the same problem with my Fenix (borometric altimeter), it starts to happen since some time ago, before was ok.
  • I tried to remove and add again the Fenix from/to Garmin Express and Garmin Connect, but without success, new workouts still have always elevation correction enabled by default.
Moreover (this happens since 2016) the Fenix software version reported into the activities is an inexistent 5.5.0.0 (latest version for Fenix is v5.0.0.0). I do not know if this is related to the elevation correction issue because I do not know really when the elevation correction issue starts.

Same problem with F1. I posted allready to Fenix 3 not recognized -thread.

Is the elevation correction graph wrong for everyone, or just to us "lucky" ones?
  • I have the same issue, though with the Forerunner 630 (does not have a barometric altimeter) in garmin connect. Using the FR630 around Sandviken in Bergen, the elevation correction gives you the most ridiculous elevation gain, while going for a hike in Stoltzekleiven up the nearby mountainside gives you the complete opposite - it only registers around 80m elevation gain while the true net gain is around 300m. Disabling elevation correction gives a much more sensible figure, but as far as I can see there is no way to permanently disable it. Thus my elevation graph is stuck as it is (calculated with elevation correction), and it won't update if i disable elevation correction.
  • The question is that as DOUGIE537 said "if your device has a barometric altimeter elevation corrections are disabled by default" and this worked since some time ago and now no more and another problem due to this issue is that if you upload the activity through Garmin Connect app (Android) the system uploads the activity with elevation correction enabled and on the app it will be always reported with this setting even if you switch to disabled through the Connect web interface (sync issue between app and Connect web).
  • Same problem (using F3)
I've reported more details in another forum: Fenix 3 not recognized - Listed as "Unknown"
  • New stupid/useless features, but the bug is still there...this forum seems useless too...

Pretty much same problem with my Etrex 30x. Correction is enabled by default and even if I disable correction and recalculate the elevation profile stays wrong.
    Makes Connect pretty much useless.
  • It seems to be fixed (at least for Fenix). Also the firmware version now is correct (5.0.0 for Fenix). Could some one confirm this?
Maybe my mail sent to the customer service helps...
  • I've also been chasing this through Garmin Customer Services (my experiences in this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?357366-Elev-Corrections-Enabled-When-They-Should-be-Disabled). It wasn't fixed when I went on my last run outdoors on Sunday, but I'll do a quick test activity later to see if anything has changes in the last 48 hours.

Edit: I've done the test run activity and Garmin Connect is still incorrectly Enabling Elev Corrections for activities from my Fenix 3 :(
