Hey all,

I want to remove a deceased garmin from my account.

Is it retire or remove and what is the difference.

I don't want to lose the activities from connect that I did with that device obviously.

Thanks
  • Retiring a device means it hows up on your list of devices but is inactive.
After you remove a device, it is as if it never existed.

Regardless, you won't lose activities because they are by account - not device.
  • Usually one will remove a device if passed on or sold to someone else. If it stop working and/or you are done using it but will keep it in a drawer somewhere one would retire the device. In either case, you do not use any of the activities associated with the device.
  • I suppose you would 'retire' the device if there was a chance of using it again some day. If gone entirely with no chance of use you could remove it.

The description on their site made me wary to 'remove' as well... made it sound like my activities were in jeopardy.
  • If you don't want it to appear anywhere, just remove it. There's nothing stopping you from adding it back later if you change your mind.

re-adding a device that was retired

I am unable to figure out how to re-add a device I retired. Anyone have the answer? the 910 can be recharged while running and need it for my upcoming race. My current 920 can not so not planning on using it.

You have to re-add it via Garmin Express. If it's still there, simply remove it and add again, Express will ask you to log in to your Garmin Connect account and the device should then appear there.
