Connect screws up my "Daily Steps" distance and calories!

I have already created this thread for my problem in the Fenix 3 forum because originally I thought this is a problem with my watch, but now I think it is actually a Connect problem. The issue is the following:

I have a new Fenix 3 HR watch and use it as an activity tracker all day long and of course also to track my activities. I also sync with Myfitnesspal. Now I'm not 100% sure if it's connected to the cycling activity, but every morning after my cycling activity into the office (with GPS and auto-pause when standing still at traffic lights etc.) I notice that after syncing with Connect there is a huge discrepancy in the distance covered by my steps between Connect and what my Fenix itself shows.

Just an example of today: when I go into today's overview of my activities on the Connect webpage by selecting "Today" in the steps widget and then selecting the "Activities" tab, I see an overview of my activities for today so far. Currently it looks like this:

You can see that Connect thinks that I have covered already 4,36 km with my "Daily Steps" activity although there are only 519 steps so far! That's about 8,4m per step on average! That's just simply impossible and also screws up my active calories because Connect thinks I have already burned 290 calories with this crazy steps activity :-(

Now the interesting thing is that my Fenix watch actually shows the correct distance in its steps widget, a total of only about 4,7km (that widget always shows the combined distance of steps and all tracked activities). So the watch has tracked the correct distance, which leads me to the conclusion that it must have been Connect that somehow screws up that distance.

I have already contacted Garmin support with this but so far they haven't replied. This issue is driving me crazy because I cannot rely on the calculated active calories anymore.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a known issue? Have I misconfigured anything?

Do you have your profile setup with weight, height, age and activity level?

It does seem a bit high for calorie count from 500 steps. We're they very active steps? Only other thought is some of the cycling activity is going under those calories/steps somehow?

Since u have hr version, do you have you resting heart rate and zones setup on the watch and connect?

That could be playing a role?

Thanks for your reply and yes to all of the above, everything is setup correctly as far as I can tell. And those steps were really not very active ones, just went down the steps in my house to my bike, cycled into the office and then entered the office building, that's why there's just 519 steps. And the distance I walked was more along the lines of 350m. And that's just it, according to my Garmin account I have walked 4.36 km and I just don't get where this is coming from. The Fenix itself doesn't even say this.

I think you might be right that somehow during the sync with Connect something from the cycling activity bleeds over into the steps data. It's just strange to me that apparently nobody else has this issue.

I have te same problem with Vivofit 2, others have with other Garmin products. THis is most probably a bug in Garmin Connect. I have sent an email to Garmin support, recommend everyone else who have this issue to contact support. Maybe they will start to do something. A similar issue with cycling distance/duration/calories some months ago, fixed after several months. Annoying issue.

Everytime i email them the respond in a language i dont understand. Tell me to do something i already have tried with them. Then proceed to ask me to send the watch to them

Given that they wont ever respond in the correct language i have no faith the watch wont get lost once mailed.
