Help with creating workouts

I'm attempting a structured training program and it calls for various distances and speeds for each workout. Most are fairly straight forward. Also, I'm copying previous workouts to save on recreating the warm up and cool down segments. While I understand we used to have speed zones and no longer do, it is a major pain in the behind to have to enter the two paces instead of simply selecting a zone from the drop down.

The workout I'm working on right now goes like this: 400m at pace, 400m recover, 600m at pace, 400m recover, 800m at pace, 400m recover, 800m at pace, 400m recover, 600m at pace, and so on. Obviously, I can't use repeats. As far as I figured out is have have to recreate the 400 recover step each time. Really? No basic copying of a step?

While I have figured out GTC will import from my Forerunner 630 I haven't tried uploading a workout. I understand the speed zones in GTC don't translate to the device, either, so up to this point there has been no incentive to use it. (Besides, I understand it's no longer supported.)

My question is: is there any tricks to using GC to create semi-complex workouts without drudging through the steps manually? Copying a step? Entering repetitive steps?

Thanks.
  • While I understand from a lot of posts here that developers don't frequent this forum, it sure would be nice to be able to set up custom steps. Just select from a step type drop-down the custom step, i.e. "800 repeat" which would fill in the type "run," distance, "800 meters," and target which is a pace with set upper and lower limits. It would make creating workout so much easier!
  • No? Can't be done and there is no other avenue to create workouts?

    Oh, okay. Thanks!
