Double Counting of active calories

Hello all,

Noticing what I think is an error in the Garmin connect app and online in that under active calories it appears to be double counting from an activity and then also attributing calories for the steps for that activity.

Eg I have a daily BMR of 2300 and today I ran 25 km (approx 19000 steps and estimates of 1950 calories) therefor I would expect total calories for the day of approx 4250. Yet Garmin connect is currently saying 4900 calories remaining.

I suspect what it is doing is allocating an addition 600-ish calories for the 19000 steps as if they were seperate to the run. Has anyone else noticed this and any sign of a solution?

Cheers,

Tom

I am experiencing the same problem....hyperactive 'Active Calorie Counter'

    Hi Tom,

I have the same problem and even after speaking with Garmin support I have not received any help. It seems the support themselves is not sure what to do to help. For example for the last two times I have been told once to disconnect and remove the device from the Garmin connect portal. Second time I was told to update the software to Beta 3.01 but none of the solutions have worked.

Separately, fiddling with the device, I stopped the activity tracking ( tracks day to day steps, sleep etc.) before I went for my timed Run and switched it on after finishing my timed activity i.e. run. This time though my watch is correctly showing the steps data in my watch but active calorie counter is still double counting, and not only double counting, but calories burnt for rest of the day is exponentially high for small walk. I am attaching last three days data captured during different times of the day to see the exact change and error in active calorie counter.

Hope to get a solution soon.
