I'm posting this again in this forum b/c this needs to be heard and addressed by Garmin. I have also submitted a ticket to them about this. I'm to a point right now where I want to return my watch to REI today b/c of this problem (despite that its a great device otherwise). Here is the issue:
My 630 locked up about an hour ago. The time got all whacked out and it was saying the date/time was yesterday (my ActiFace app that I use for my watch face was showing steps/calories/etc totals for as of yesterdays time). I could not do anything to get the time back. Tried syncing with my phone. Connected to computer and used Garmin Express to sync a few times. Tried pulling up a gps activity just to see if activity gps satellites would correct the time but the gps would not activate and was essentially broken.
It all happened after my phone froze for about half a minute while I was messing with it (not during an activity - just browsing around). I had to power cycle it. I then had the time/date issues and gps issues. The only solution was to hard reset.
Now all my data on the device is gone All my stats for last 2 weeks of using it. All my step totals, calories, etc... I know its all in Garmin Connect but that totally sucks! All my activity profiles have to be recreated, my history and personal records are gone, my calorie and step history, everything. Those are all nice motivators and reminders of your current progress that you can easily see glancing down at your watch face (especially if you use ActiFace or Liquid Crystal watch face apps) but now its all gone Totally blows. I'm almost tempted to return my 630 as much as I love it. If this keeps happening and I have no way to restore my data that's a deal breaker for me. Anyone had this crap happen? Any way to get the data back onto the device from Garmin Connect?
