Not all data is uploaded to GC (status ONLINE)

It is not the first time that this happens. Steps and Sleeping data are not uploaded to GC even though the status (e.g. Steps and Sleeping) is "ONLINE". Data is present on the device but not updated to GC.
Any idea? Thanks.
  • Fenix 3. I have synched again but GC does not show the updated steps and sleep data is shown as " No sleep data, yet". Fenix 3 shows the steps for that day and the week. Thanks.
  • Could your date be wrong on the watch? I don't have a Fenix 3 so I have to ask: Does the watch update its time from the GPS or phone or manually? If it's set manually, there could be a setting like time zone or year that is incorrect.
  • Just to make sure: activity tracking is turn on on your Fenix, right? If so, you may want to turn the watch off and back on by holding the light button (to left) for a couple of seconds, wait 10-15 seconds, and then press it again to start the watch again.
  • No, date and time on the fenix are set automatically and no changes were applied. Activity tracking is turned on. In fact the data from the day after was recorded in full without problem. I have tired to switch off/on the device and send the data again without success. The number of steps in the device still shows a greater number than the one transferred to GC. It looks like that GC has received the number of steps (and no sleeping data) at a certain point during the day as final data. But it is not like that.
    Thank you.
  • no steps here either

I too am having this problem. My run data is syncing ok, but my steps data have not been syncing for at least a month. Activity tracking is on and I can see today's number (much greater than zero) on my watch yet Garmin Connect shows zero. My run today synced fine.
  • Happening again today. Watch shows a higher number of steps compared to GC. Message says synched fine.
Any idea since I am not the only one?
    Thanks
  • John,

It seems to me that that happens when the device is not set as the primary tracker. Are you sure it is? When you sync, it will display a dialog box saying that because it is not the primary tracker, neither steps nor sleep will be transferred.

If it is set as the primary tracker, I would check that the time and date is 100% correct. If it is, then maybe the thing to do is to delete it from Connect and set it up again.

BTW, you didn't mention how you are syncing. Are you using mobile or Express? Which OS?
  • I believe it is set as primary device. When connected it uploads the activities right away. I see the progression bar without any action I have to take form my side. It looks like that time and date are also correct. For synching I am using the cable through Garmin Express v. 4.1.17.0. I also tried to do it through wifi. I am using Mac OS X. What happens if I delete the device from GC? Can I set it up again without data or settings lost?

PS How do you check if the time and date is correct? I just checked the computer time and device time has e few second difference (20 seconds).
    Thanks
  • It doesn't have to be the primary tracker to upload activities. Just steps, sleep, and, I believe, 24/7HR. Express should indicate that it's the primary tracker.

I know that people have had syncing issues when the difference was as little as a minute but 20 seconds could also be the issue. How does your computer update its time? Which internet clock does it use or is it set manually? Mine is set by time.windows.com
