heart rate sync to apple health app

I don't see the heart rate data being written to the apple health. Am I missing something or it's the way to be? And why not?
  • I was surprised to see that as well. I just moved into Garmin from a Basis Peak, which synced heart rate, Resting heart rate, steps and sleep data directly into Apple Health. (and has done so for quite some time)

If you go to Settings -> Privacy -> Health -> Connect, you'll see what data Garmin pushes & reads from Apple Health. Active Energy, Steps, Walking + Running Distance.

    And why not?

Or alternatively, why should they? They provide the information for you in Garmin Connect, so what do they get out of it by providing it to Apple?

This thread also raises a pretty major issue with data from Garmin Connect getting duplicated when sent to Apple Health, so there's some pretty major bugs that need to be ironed out before new features added.

Personally my preference is for the flaws and limitations in privacy when sharing out data from Garmin Connect to be addressed first, so we can do things like share out activities while keeping maps private, or do things like step summary be visible while sleep data is kept private. Right now for both activities & general wellness areas it's either all or nothing. Privacy needs to be noticeably more granular to be of any use.

    Same here!
Still got by Basis Peak, not sent it back yet as I have none of the reported issues.
May end up taking my Garmin back to the the shop if this basic issue is not sorted soon.
