Two devices, One GC account

Hi,

Is it possible to have 2 Garmin devices linked to one Garmin Connect account and combine the data from both?

Basically I would like to wear a vivosmart or vivofit whilst I am at work. (I have a manual job and don't want to risk
breaking a more expensive Forerunner or soon to be release Vivoactive HR. When I get home from work and at
weekends I would like to wear a Forerunner or Vivoactive HR.

Question is will the Garmin connect website combine the data from both devices or will they interfere with each other.

For example, if I wear a vivofit to work and record 8000 steps, then switch to a Forerunner when I get home and record
a further 6000 steps and a running activity on that, will this be reflected on the Garmin Connect website to show my
daily step count as 14000 steps and 1 workout

Ultimately I want to avoid having to wear two devices at once to track activity and record workouts seperately.

Thanks
  • Nope. You'll have a problem. The only way is keep the vivofit as your primary tracker and use the Forerunner or VAHR for activities. However, you would have to wear the vivofit 24/7. The downside is that, if you buy a VAHR, you'll lose 24 hr HR tracking.

For what it's worth, I have a vivofit and then bought a VA. At first, I wore both, but after a few days, I just started using the VA alone and the vivofit sits in a drawer as a backup.
  • I agree with Phil... Once you get used to what the va/fr can do, you'll probably just start using that all the time.

The other thing is while you "can" switch which device is your step tracker, if you do it doing the day, you'll lose steps (you really would want to do that first thing in the morning).

In your example of 8000 steps on the vs and then 6000 on the fr/va, you see one of two things. Your total for the day will be 8000 until you get 8001 on the other device, or you'll only get the 6000 on the second device after the switch. (I don't recall what happens today, but last time I tried this, it was the first case, where it stopped at 8000 until I got more than 8000 on the second device).

    Thanks

    Thanks for the answers guys,

I guess I'll be wearing the vivofit 24/7 and just using the Forerunner for workouts on the other wrist then.
