Connect Modern Functionality

In the Classic version of Connect, there used to be the Explore section, that allowed you to view other users' Activities and Courses. I can't find a way to do this in Connect Modern. Am I missing it, or has it been removed?

Click the search icon (magifying glass) on top of Activities widget.
    Current link: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/explore

in my opinion the classic view is much better than modern,
and perhaps its a surprise for you garmin: my own opinion is much more important for me than yours.
so the question: is there a way to switch to classic view?
  • Unfortunately this facility now appears to have been retired it used to be possible to substitute "classic" for "modern" in the url.

In general now I find Modern OK and it offers a number of pretty features. However I used to use classic mode to view the calendar on my android device as with modern I cannot successfully resize the view to get a full week on the screen. I'm sure Garmin will say use the mobile app but unfortunately the calendar in the mobile app is worse than useless

A big problem, and a major step back with the modern version, is that the track does not have enough points. Corners are cut etc. Used to be better in the classic view. Garmin, any idea when you'll bring the modern track view up to same level as the classic?
  • What I have found is that if you erase the word modern in the URL, you get to an error page. However, that error page still has menu options to get you to the classic style display for quite a bit of info.

That probably won't last long either.
  • Not working for me
  • If I remove "modern" from the URL, I get the error page, but if I try to see something else (click on "home page" for example) it's back to modern.

I guess this really shouldn't be a surprise, as modern first started appearing in 2014 (when the vivoactive first came out, IIRC), and over the last two years people had the chance to get used to modern and suggest things that they could do in classic. I also think that with new devices, modern was updated for them, but maybe not classic (Things like all the activity tracking stuff in newer devices).

For me I started with modern, and actually found classic to be a bit hard to use when I got put there for some reason.

It's been two years for the switchover, which is a very long time for this type of stuff (often it's more like a few months) where Garmin allowed people to get used to modern while having to support both interfaces.
  • I removed modern from the url. Then I explored activities. It might be modern but the style seems classic to me.

    Me either.

But, my bookmark to my Dashboard intermittently returns me to Classic view. No idea what's different about the times it shows me Classic and the times it shows me Modern.

But I agree, much prefer Classic.

Then again, I much preferred Training Center to anything on Connect.

The thing I hate about modern is the player view is rubbish. You can no longer see what your time AND distance is to get splits outside of recorded laps. The best you can do is get one, try to hold your finger over the screen as close to the point as you can and then toggle to the other and try to match the cursor progress to where your finger is on the screen.

I can only assume the people who write Garmin Connect do not run or cycle so have no experience of what athletes actually find useful.
