import historical data from the ios health app

I just got a new Vivosmart HR few days ago. I downloaded the Garmin Connect app and linked the Vivosmart HR to the app. In the Garmin Connect app, I can only see the steps starting from the day I download the app. All the steps previously recorded from my phone are not showing up from the Connect app. Is it how it should be, or am I missing some procedures to get the steps roll in the Connect app?

Unfortunately this is the way it is; you can link, however, Garmin Connect to Apple Health and have the steps recorded by your VivoSmart HR transferred to your iPhone.
