I have just purchased a Fenix 3 and will use it for running , cycling and hiking mainly. I was surprised and dissapointed to discover that there is no facility to record the total distance for cycling . I have owned several cheap cycle computers and the ability to record total mileage is absolutely basic. The Fenix 3 has an odometer but that records every activity's mileage and I dont want it all lumped together. The best I could manage was to set a goal of 10,000 miles and see my progress but even that is only possible over a week , a month , or a year and not ongoing. You might say why do you need it but as I've stated just about all cheap cycle computers have this function and I need it to know when to change my chain or rear cassette. Any help gratefully received.
In Garmin Connect you can use "Reports" to see mileage totals. If you want to track gear usage, there is a Gear option where you can items the things you want to track.
Many thanks, that would appear to be an improvement and I will use it . However I would have thought that the Fenix 3 would have the ability to give stat's on total cycling miles just like any cheap cycle computer . Nonetheless with your help I'm now further ahead.
The reports section on Connect does indeed store total distance but the longest period to choose is 12 months and I now discover that that means total distance per month throughout a year. Effectively that's a months total distance.
Total distance is probably most easily tracked by the gear function - setting up a bike as the default gear for the cycling activity will allow total mileage to be accumulated by bike and/or overall for cycling
A cheap cycle computer is just for cycling whereas the fenix is for running, walking, swimming etc etc so having total stats built in for each does not really make sense.

Reports go back as far as your data does. In "summary" select all days (or any other time period of interest) and you can see totals for the time period selected.
You can also use the < next to "today" in the main "Reports" window to cycle back through your data a year at a time (select the "12 months" tab first)
