eTrex 35 Touch Screen Lock Beep

Is there any way to have the eTrex 35 Touch beep just once when the screen is touched when the screen lock is activated?

I just completed an 8 hour hike with the eTrex hanging around my neck and it beeped incessantly the entire time...
