Is it possible to set predefined Pace Zones the way you do with Heart Rate Zones?

Hello,

I have a Forerunner 630 and I use the Garmin Connect Workouts feature a lot for my trainings. My trainings are based on pace zones, and I would love to just have them pre-defined as I do with Heart Rate Zones. Is it possible to input these ranges into Connect somehow, instead of every time having to define min/max pace for each split?

I tried to find this info on the forum but could not, any help is much appreciated.

  • What about using virtual partner?

    From the manual (page 3):

    Using Virtual Partner®
    The Virtual Partner feature is a training tool designed to help you meet your goals. You can set the Virtual Partner pace or speed to help you reach your training target.
    1 Select    > Settings > Activity Settings > Data Screens > Virtual Partner > Status > On.
    2 Select Set Pace or Set Speed.
    You can use pace or speed as your running format.
    3 Go for a run.
    4 Scroll to the Virtual Partner screen to see who is leading.
    5 If necessary, hold the Virtual Partner banner À to adjust Virtual Partner pace or speed during your run.

    Thank you! But I am confused: how does the Virtual Partner feature help set predefined pace zones so I don't have to mannually input my min/max pace every time I enter a new workout?
  • Another way is to create workouts and upload them to your device. I have created a few custom workouts where you can set pace range (on Workouts page in GC). After you upload such a workout to your device and run it, it will notify you each time you are out of predefined pace. The differecne from VP described above is also that within a workout you can create several laps with different pace (like warmup, run, etc.). I am 610 user, and it works perfectly for me.
