why does it say app connection required when I have synced-for weather and calendar??

why does it say app connection required on my forerunner 235 when it says I am synced??

    Same issue with 230

    I'm having the same problem with my new 230. Calendar widget says Waiting for Device.....but the phone is connected via bluetooth already. Can't get the calendar function at all on the 230. Crazy frustrating! But weather works just fine...???:confused:

    Is Garmin Connect Mobile open in the background? The update occurs via the app so it needs to be open or at least in the background...

    garmin 235 app connection required for weather/calendar and not syncing- solution

    try this:
    go in to iPhone settings and check calendar/weather app is enabled under "mobile". Then check it is enabled under General- Background app refresh. Then check garmin connect app settings-notifications. I did all 3 and now it works again and syncs.
