"Other" Activities Showing Up As Running

I have ran into a problem with the Garmin Connect Reports. I have a Forerunner 220 which i've been using for running and other sports. When I use it for sports, it still uploads as running. I know that's just a limitation of the FR220. However, when i change the activity in Garmin Connect from "Running" to "Other", the reports never reflect that. It still tallies up the "other" miles and puts them under the "running" category. This is extremely annoying because there is no easy way to compare how many miles I've ran month to month, or week to week because the sports are throwing it off... Has anyone ran in to this before? It appears if I add an "Other" manually, it shows up as "other" in reports. But anything uploaded from my watch shows running even if I change it.

Thanks!

    Reports Broken

Since October last year this started happening with me.

It used to be fine, as you say, it would always upload as "running" but when you changed it then so would the reports but since October 2015 everything I've done, walking, other, cycling just shows up as running.

The reports seem to refuse to refresh.

Making Garmin Connect pretty useless because if you can't analyse your data why bother uploading it?

So do you just use Strava or some other website instead?

I confirmed that if you input "other" activities manually, it shows up right in the reports. I put in a 5 mile "other" just to test it and the next day it showed up as "other". But anything that is uploaded from my watch shows as running even after I change it.

    Same issue here

    Hi everyone,

I have been having the same issue here over the last few weeks. Whatever activity I upload to Garmin Connect, whether it is running, cycling, skiing, hiking, etc... shows up as "running". I have also tried to manually modify them afterwards, but without success. This is rather annoying because all the statistics are messed up (number of activities per type of activity, time spent, kilometres, etc...)

    Nicolas

Ok, I figured out a workaround for this. It's not going to be fun if you do non-running activities very often. Export the activity as a .TCX file and then re-import it. Then you can delete the original activity that came from your watch. After doing this, you'll still need to change the activity to whatever category you want. A few minutes later, the activity will show up in reports under the category you selected after you imported the tcx file. Stupid that you have to go to these measures, but it works.

    Fixed??

Ok, this is weird... I just logged in today and it looks like all my reports are showing the correct categories now! I'll have to add up everything with a calculator to make sure though. Did Garmin see this thread and fix it? Surely they aren't that awesome lol

    Just a follow up:

It still seems to be working properly, pretty happy with Garmin overall now!
