Timezone

Google tells me I'm not alone but I haven't seen a solution. I'm in NZ. My timezone in my profile says NZ. My watch displays the right time (and it set to auto). However, when Connect loads up the files it knocks an hour off and decides I'm on Fiji time.

Why does it do this and how can I convince it I'm in NZ so I don't have to keep changing each activity in Connect manually?
  • Which profile is the correct timezone set in? Do you mean the settings in Connect itself?
  • In Connect, when you click on the head & shoulders icon and select settings, there is an "Upload Time Zone" field. This is set to NZ. Connect still uses Fiji though.
  • You say Google tells you that you are not alone. Did Google point you to this forum? Did you read those threads?

You need to check and confirm that all your settings are correct. On your device, set it manually to the correct time, then set to automatic. On Garmin Connect, change the timezone, save it, then select the correct one and save it. Do you upload through Garmin Connect Mobile? If so, same thing.

You can also try shutting down and restarting your device. If that fails you might want to do a hard reset before you call Garmin Support - that's the first thing they'll ask you to do.

Same for me. All my GPS-activities gets West Africa Time on Connect, even though Central European Time is set on both Connect and on my watch (Auto). Non-GPS activities gets Central European Time on Connect.

Same behaviour with both a 920XT and a FR630. And I think it has been this way for a year or longer. Garmin pushes a Timezone-file to the watch from time to time, but I haven't seen one in a long time.

  • Looking at my Connect settings it shows Fiji and NZ time both as GMT+12, so appear to be the same?
  • Fiji is an hour behind NZ though. Perhaps that's a clue and GC doesn't know NZ is on DST? It will be interesting to see what difference it makes when NZ DST ends soon; the timezone may be wrong but perhaps the times will be correct!

Google produced some other forum's posts. After reading a bunch of threads with "me too" posts and no suggested answers, I thought I'd ask here. Is that an issue?

    I'll try your suggestions.

Ultimately, it's not a major thing; but it would be nice to fix it. It seemed to start for me when I got back from a visit to Rarotonga, which I assume is a coincidence.
  • Coincidence. In the past 12 months (not bragging here) I've been to Rarotonga, UK, Australia, NZ, Australia, NZ and back to Australia and each time all has set correctly.
  • What about this one?

I live in Bergen, Norway. Timezone in Bergen is CET. My zone is set to CET in GC
When I go from home to work (11 km), the activity uploads as CET. When I go home again the activity uploads as GMT.
If I go from home to the city centre (9 km), the activity uploads as CET. When I go home again the activity uploads as GMT.

This started happening some time between July 3. and August 3. 2015, and happens regardless of which device I use. (Edge 510, Edge 520, FR 620 or Fenix3)
All activities uploads with correct timezone to Strava, Endomondo, and SportTrack Mobi (Synced from GC)

  • I'm in Dunedin this weekend so still in NZ timezone. Now Garmin Connect flags the entries as Micronesia Time and they're two hours out instead of one! It feels pretty random.
