How to select 10s-avg watts in workout?

Does anybody know how to select period-average watt (eg. 10s-avg) readings in a workout? I create my workouts in Garmin Connect and push them to my Edge 810 using the Android app.

Many of my workouts utilise custom watt zones targeting a specific range , here 302-322 watts. Power meter readings fluctuate heavily: 290-308-335-318-295-... and every time I am outside the range, my edge 810 BEEPs.

I know sounds can be turned off, but I want some kind of audio warning. I also know that workouts can be edited manually on my 810, but it is tedious work doing it for multiple custom watt zones in multiple workouts (and everytime I change from watt to 10s-avg watt readings, my custom range is reset to 200-250).

Does anybody know a good workaround? Is there a way to map/change watt readings to 10s-avg readings?

All ideas are appreciated.
  • Can't help

This is something Garmin Connect should fix as soon as possible - otherwise workouts with power are useless.

On my Garmin 500 I used to manually change from 1 s power to 10 s power - but I used power zones, so I didn't have to change power levels every time I changed my FTP value.

On my new Garmin 520 there's no way to edit a workout on the device, on the contrary of my old 500 or your 810. I haven't even tried the workout function on the 520 because of this.

Totally agree! This should be possible in Garmin Connect. Configuring on the device is tedious work, so that would make sense. Hopefully, this is for the future!
  • Agree as well.

    Garmin team, please solve it.
