Feature request: remove spikes from heart rate and cadence.

I understand that wireless interfaces can be "glitched" by electromagnetic interference. I also know that not everyone is affected by this, but I am willing to bet that most cyclists in particular get the occasional glitch, for me it seems to happen especially when stopped at traffic lights.

So I would love a feature in Garmin Connect to eliminate the spikes. They are easy to spot algorithmically (1-3 data points a long way away from the short term average).
A less complex but probably just as useful approach would be to create a profile setting "Replace with previous if > xxx" which would do the trick. I don't get above 145rpm or 185bpm so if I set these limits my data would be noise-free.
  • Agreed it would be sensible to remove outliers in several of the graphs and maxima. I get spikes occasionally in. HR but also in pace due to GPS glitches. These should be easy to filter out.
