Live Tracking questions - Vivosmart HR

Hi, thanks in advance...

I just got the vivosmart HR as a gift. I read the manual but cannot figure out the live tracking deal and how it is utilizing or getting GPS data.

Question:
1) Where is the vivosmart HR getting the GPS data from to do live tracking or to do 'laps'? I am reading there isn't a GPS inside it, no way in *** I am taking my phone out for an open swim, or for that matter a 3 mile run.

Not familiar with the Vivosmart (have a 620) but Live Track is done through your phone. You must have your watch paired to your phone and start the Connect app on your phone. It doesn't seem to use the watch's GPS at all, but instead uses the phones (based on slight differences in measurements).
