Garmin Connect Training plan not showing splits.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but how can Garmin not put in the ability to see splits when using a training plan.

Here's the response in the FAQ's which is not very good customer service. Does Garmin really want us to have to go to Strava to see the splits?

Why don't I see my lap splits when I'm using a training plan workout?
When you're doing a time-based workout (e.g. Long Run-90 minutes), you will not see lap splits at every mile or kilometer. If those splits are important to you, you can choose not to do the Garmin Connect workout and, instead, do a simple, non-scheduled workout on your device using just the Start/Stop buttons.

Something seems amiss here and it should be a very easy fix for Garmin.
  • Unfortunately this is the way that the plans are set up - you can edit the scheduled workouts so that the repeats are specifically set up as laps with pace ranges etc but that rather defeats the object of the plans.

Runners world used to offer plans that would create garmin output that could then be uploaded to connect but unfortunately they have disappeared from their website.

The RW plans allowed you to enter dates of target event and a target time (based upon realistic expectations) - it would then generate the workouts with the paces set for you - this should be well within Garmin's capability to provide - as it is the Training plan functionality is half-baked
