Folks:
- This morning I rode a loop on my mountain bike with my 910XT in "ride" mode. Measurement show distance = 7.22 miles, total elevation change = 1,657 feet.
- This afternoon I ran the exact same loop with my 910XT in "run" mode. Measurement show distance = 6.73 miles, total elevation change = 1,198 feet.
Clear open skies each time.
Isn't this a lot of difference for the same route measured by the same device in the two respectively appropriate modes?
Is there anything that can be done to improve the accuracy of the measurement? (I suspect the run mode algorithm that corrects for arm movement and body bounce is the culprit here).
It is quite annoying to realize that the device can't be trusted.
I understand the concept of margin of errors but 7.3% on the distance and 38.3% difference on the elevation is unacceptable.:(
My calories estimates are likely totally off, and I don't even know which way. Not the best way to train efficiently.
(No wonder I can't seem to be able to lose weight... :p)
Thanks for chipping in.
Ben
