Active Calories Calcuation for Daily Steps too high.

Hi,

My apologies if this has been asked an answered, but I've been unable find the exact same issue I see with my device.
I recently purchased a VivoSmart HR

My active calories burned for regular steps is incredibly high vs calories burned for a tracked activity like a run.

82 Calories burned per KM for a run as a tracked activity as a run.
179 Calories burned per KM under my active calories for my regular steps.

I'm getting incredibly high active calorie burn numbers each day as the calories it seems to be tracking that I'm burning just from tracking daily steps is way too high.

Does anyone know how this is tracked and how I can correct the calories burned tracking from basic step activity?

Thanks

I seem to be getting the same today 2000 steps and 350 cals???

Sorry I've no solution for you, it frustrating though, I moved from fitbit to this and trusted fitbit moreso only had the garmin a few days though.

I'm having the same issue. It also looks like Garmin is calculating calories not only for the rebounding I'm doing but the steps as well. The activity calories look reasonable but definitely an excessive number of calories for the steps I took.

I'm having this problem too. I have a Fenix 3 and when I look at the steps tile on the dashboard in Connect it shows the same steps, distance, and calories as my watch, which I think is reasonably accurate. When I go to the daily summary view for today it's added 2.2 miles to my daily step distance and given me an extra 283 calories for it (which would probably be reasonable if I actually did go that distance), but I know for a fact 3,531 steps (my non-activity steps today) does not equal 3.67 miles. Looking at this past week it looks like this problem only has happened on days where I had activities and not just steps.

Unfortunately it looks like these incorrect values are also getting passed on to Myfitnesspal as well, so it's making that wrong too. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Edit: I emailed support about this issue and gave them the link to this thread. I'll post again if they respond with something that will help.

Following having similar issues. The past week or so has been fine. Until today where I got over 300 calories for just 1300 steps. Distance is believable at 0.6 of a mile. There has been no resting HR spikes either today. Went for a wee run 3 miles at 260 calories so that's believable also.

I heard back from Garmin Support and unfortunately they did not have a fix right now. They did tell me this is a known issue and they are working to resolve it. There is a case open that they added me to, so hopefully they will come up with a fix soon.

    Possible workaround/fix.

I heard that if you turn off all day HR monitoring it works better. For the past couple of days I've turned it off. Only putting on when going for a run and calorie count for steps appear much more realistic. We shouldn't have to do this though. Also I have a forerunner 235 so I'm unsure if the same would apply for the vivasmart HR.

Is this still an issue? Its happening to me except its on steps and exercises.

    Any recognition from garmin?

1432 steps, 1.17km see seems fine but 144 calories for that distance's steps seems quite unreasonable 😡
