Charging a GPSMAP 64s

Hi

I've recently bought a GPSMAP 64s and a Garmin battery pack. A couple of questions please...

1. If I charge the battery via usb into my computer, there is nothing to indicate that it is actually charging. Is this right? And if so, how do I know when it is finished? Also, because the computer regards it as a mass storage device, while I can do things like transfer files etc., I am not able to do anything on the GPS itself (such as checking that the files are working properly) without disconnecting it, which I obviously don't want to do while it is still charging; is there any way round this?

2. If I charge the battery by plugging the usb into a mains adapter, the GPS does show that it is charging. But I have not yet reached the point where it shows that it has STOPPED charging. Again, the only way to check progress is to disconnect from the mains and then check the battery level.

Have I missed something?
