I got my vivioactive today, got everything set up and ready to go. I did a quick indoor bike ride for 350 calories which was reflected in the connect app...then an hour later, the active calories randomly decreased from 350 to 210 (only in the connect app; still reflected as 350 in the workout)
Also; my calories consumed sync up with MyFitnessPal correctly, but my calorie goal shows as --
any ideas on how to fix this? i see no logical reason for 140 calories to just drop off the grid
I have a Forerunner 235 and used it to track three activities today that, together, add up to 601 active calories. The three activities were 383, 106 and 112 calories, respectively. The total active calories reported on the Activities tab of the Daily Summary page in Connect are reported as 439. Likewise, the total active calories in the Garmin Connect mobile app are reported as 439. There's no explanation for the reduction in calories.
I've opened a ticket with Garmin as this is not the first instance of this issue I've experienced since purchasing the watch in December.
I received the following response from Garmin this morning:
Thank you for contacting Garmin International.
I would be happy to assist you.
Active Calories doesn't actually mean calories from a recorded activity. It is actually a different measurement. In addition to counting calories from your recorded activities, it also counts calories from steps recorded during an especially active period. Thus, your number of active calories will often exceed the number of calories burned from recorded activities.
When we check your active calories from the 27th, the total does equal the number of calories burned in activities plus the calories burned from steps during active periods. Based on what you've described, it sounds like there was a delay in calculating active calories at the time you were checking. They are adding up now.

I went back and checked and my calorie activity total for yesterday now matches the sum of calories associated with the individual activities. The response above doesn't really address the issue since my Active Calories were being under counted independent of any calories from steps recorded. But the total is now correct and I have to give Garmin kudos for the quick response. Still, this bug limits the ability to track calories real-time in Garmin Connect.
Bought this watch to track calories, HR, and sleep.
Seems it can't do any of these things, will have to return it, which is too bad because i really liked a lot about it.
