Converting from Garmin TC to Connect

Still haven't stopped using Garmin TC because I haven't figured out two things. 1) In Garmin TC I can set training Zones, In Garmin Connect it says to go to device settings to do that but I don't see a way to do that there - all I have is a tab that says my Software is up to date. and 2) I had assumed that when doing a Sync that it would take any workouts on the Watch (from TC) and upload them into Connect, but it doesn't. Is there a way to do that?

I'm still using a Forerunner 205.
  • In Garmin Connect:

Bring up your profile - click on the head and shoulders icon at the bottom on the left.
    Click on Settings
Click on Training Zones - set your zones and send to your device.

Chances are you need to install Garmin Express to get the activities to Garmin Connect.

    Not there

I click on "Training Zones" and get a message that says: "Heart rate and power training zones can be managed within device settings." And under Device Settings I have a Tab that says "Software is up to date" and if I click on the icon that looks like a gear (same icon Internet Explorer uses for Tools) I only have options to "Remove" or "Retire".

And I have Garmin Express installed - I use that routinely for updating my Nuvi and eTrek. And I have used that to get my tracks into Connect.
  • I took a look at my FR305 and I see the same thing in Connect.
I haven't tried it but what about settings on the actual watch itself?

Setting Zones - Watch vs TC

Well, through TC I was able to give the zones a custom name - so I have a zone named "10K" for my 10K pace, and a zone named "Half" for my half marathon pace. Through the watch I can change the pace, but then I have to use the default names built into the watch like "Fast Jog" and "Slow Run". Guess I'll stick with using TC.
