Stopwatch and Countdown Timer for use when NOT running

I have a Forerunner 230 and I've bought it as a replacement for a digital sports watch.

I'd really like to find a way to use it as a Stopwatch and Countdown timer when NOT running.

Any ideas?

Same problem here. Every sports watch from the beginning of time has had a stopwatch and a countdown timer but Garmin chose to drop it here? Garmin makes a stopwatch app that can be downloaded but it doesn't have a countdown timer. There is the gymtimer app but I've tried it and, well, it sucks as a basic timer.
