Connect not adding Actives from Vivofit 2 + HRM

About a year ago I had a vivfit that I used with the garmin HRM, and when I did my workouts (p90x3) it would capture my heart rate info and add it as an Activity in Connect. I replaced the vivofit with a Samsung Gear, but have been disappointed with it due to poor HRM on the device and the lack of an ability to connect a HRM to it. I got the new vivofit2 over the holidays, and it works with the HRM fine, but after I sync, I do not find the activity in Connect, and cannot find the HR information for my workout. I have searched high and low and cannot figure this out. The only way I know it is working is from the calorie in/out information. It also does sync with MFP just fine, but I would really like to track my HR for each workout to go back and compare older data.

I do not wear the vivofit2 all day, just when I work out. I like the Gear S for my day to day email/appointment notifications.

Am I missing something simple?
  • Did you start the activity and then stop it? The vf2 is different that the vf1 in that the vf1 starts an activity the moment you see your heart rate. The vf2 needs you to physically start and stop the ativity.

I did not know that. How do I start and stop an activity on the device?
  • From the manual:

Hold the device key until the word start appears.

To stop hold the device key until stop appears.

Thanks so much for this. I couldn't work it out until I read this thread. I followed your instructions yesterday to test out my HRM and can now see my BPM in the Activities widget.
I gather the Heart Rate widget that can be added to the Dashboard is for devices other than VF2?
  • The heart rate widget will give you a scatter graph of the average heart rate of each of your activities by day. For example, today I did 2 activities, 1 at 136 bpm and the other at 99 bpm. For today, the widget shows 2 dots. If you used an HRM during the activities the dot for your average heart rate will appear in the widget. It isn't much but it makes sense as you build a history.

Hmmm... I just went for another walk to see what would happen once I had more than one activity saved and the Heart Rate widget still says, "None of your current devices support this feature. Add a new device using Garmin Express."
  • I just took a look at my dashboard. In fact, what I described is an average heart rate report.
It isn't a widget. My mistake.

The widget should be for devices like the FR235 or VSHR, I guess which is why you see that message.

That's good news. It means I'm not doing anything wrong. :)
Thank you so much for all your help over the last few days. I really appreciate it.
