Connect not picking up Segments

Hi
I am very disappointed that Garmin is not putting more effort into restoring the Segment feature in Garmin Connect. It has now been two weeks since the error was recognised by Garmin and the Garmin Connect Status page still simply reads:

"DOWN Segments
We are currently experiencing issue (sic) in processing your segment matches. We are actively investigating."
https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

It is really annoying as it was the main reason I bought an expensive Edge device. It is now much harder to compare my progress while I am training plus I do not want to be pushed into paying for an expensive Strava Premium upgrade just because Garmin can't be bothered to fix something that was supposed to be free.

Anyone else fed up?

I also just got a return email from Garmin stating that it will be fixed. No time frame was mentioned.

Good to hear that they are planning a fix- did you go back to them pushing for a time frame?Doesn't seem too much to ask!

I've created some segments from some activities I've done in the past, in fact I created these segments quite some time ago. It's pretty sad that I don't even end up in the leader boards, even though I created the segment from the very run.

I had initially asked for when. No time was offered.

Segments are (were) the only reason to buy a garmin.
Its the only thing that makes cycling fun.
It gives you the push you need to improve yourself.
If i had the option i would take my money back any second as its a useless device for me now.

    And frankly strava is rubbish.
The website is a mess it has a million segments as everyone seems to like to create a
10meter longer or shorter version of the same freaking segment because that gives them a higher ranking...
and on top of that it seems to struggle with garmin data as sometimes its just completely off while garming connect showed complete values.

Last year i did a 145.6 KM long ride and strava only managed to show 139.2.
thats 4.39% of that ride thats just gone missing because strava doesnt know the data.
the same happens on shorter rides and thats with gps intervals on shortest setting (1 sec) Not that that should matter
as after all i ride with cadens and speed sensor so it should Always have the correct data...

Other then strava there sadly is no other site that uses segments or understands garming data correctly.

The should just delete the entire segments database and turn it on again or put back a backup from 5 months ago im sure thay have on otherwise they are idiots.
then delete all data and for all i care segments aswell and start from a clean slate and let everyone make the segments again.
im willing to spend half a day putting them in again just for them to work again...

I have recently bought edge 520 and decided to try out one of the most advertised features - live segments. I wanted to try out particularly Garmin segment, but tried everything and could not make it work. It was hard to find out any info about that and definitely none from garmin itself. I consider this real shame of Garmin. G devices are overpriced and buying customers are not worth to get basic features work or at least be informed by Garmin that are working on fixing issue with segment and should work on ...... But nothing, silent. Garmin is just ignoring their paying customers. I bought garmin mostly because of Varia Radar, but now I am not sure if i would do it again, if i see garmins attitude to their customer. I own new Polar V800, running watches, and can see different approach from Polar, very often firmware updates, app updates, adding new features to their products ... Garmin made after more than 2 month new edge 520 firmware update 4.1 with no major improvement. I understand that it may be more complicated that it seems to be, but courtesy to informing their customers should be natural.

Bought a 520 two months ago, and very satisfied when i tried the segments last rides and a message appears in my screen. GO!
Wow, this is cool! But after passing several times the same segment my personal best was still old data. Huh? Strange!
Spent some time discovering for what was wrong and then i saw this topic. Very disapointed , let's hope that Garmin will fix this, if they really want ofcourse....

Created a Segment, imagine my disppointment to learn I cant sync it to my device?

Create my first segment, only to discover I cant send the segment to my device. Then to discover this is a bug that was reported months ago and Garmin has not fixed it? What the blazes! When spending hundreds of dollars for a device I expect the features to work and if not, then they should be fixed quickly and an update provided to the user community. Garmin, why have you not seen fit to address this bug?
