Newbie question about 2597lmt- voice activation

What is the easiest way to voice navigate to a remote "place"? I have been finding the city first, then setting up navigation, then specifying a "place" at "destination" assuming the destination is the city originally set up for navigation. Is there an easier way? Results do not always seem to start with the destination city. Thanks for help.
