new activity name on Fenix 3 not carried over to Connect

Hi all,

I created a new "strength activity" on my Fenix 3 and named it Strength and Conditioning.

However when a completed and saved activity on the watch syncs to Connect it just shows as Activity Type "Other" and Activity Name "Untitled". I was hoping that at least the Activity Type would sync - I realise that if the activity is carried out indoors then the GPS can not auto-name it as it does for running activities naming them with the town or village name.

Having the strength activity type picked up would be nice as then the Event Type could automatically be say "Fitness" or "Training"

What do others do when logging gym sessions, do your activities get nicely transfered or do you have to manually edit every one - if so rather a nuisance.

  • On my 920 I have a Cardio activity that I created. When I sync to GC it shows up as Indoor Cardio. I then manually adjust to be whatever the activity was, cross train, rower etc.

    Thanks for the reply James

I did wonder if I edited the name in the wrong field on my Fenix3 however it shows up in the list of activities as "Strength and Conditioning". I can not see any other area to edit it. Also the Activity Type is not carried over either.

  • Nope,
What you are experiencing is correct.

This is one of those things I dislike compared to Suunto'ss Ambit's.
Whatever you called an exercise, keeps then name in syncs.

I have MTB (Mountain Bike) and Strength training, on the Garmin, which don't keep their name.
Have to manually edit it each time, which is really annoying.
  • Oddly enough, my Cardio workout for today did not display as Indoor Cardio like normal - it showed as Other.

Not sure if this is a one off or a change on GC.
